Kristin Möller won her 2nd Ironman of her carrier in Pembrokeshire, Wales. Just a few weeks ago she got her first title in the English Bolton.
The British Island seems to be a good place for Kristin. Actually that is not a big surprise. Most of the races there are tough concerning the course as well as the weather. With her tiny body Kristin flies not just only over the hills on the bike but also on the run there are not many who could beat her. For many people it is surprising that an athlete who just started with the sport can perform that well. But Kristin used to be a track and field athlete for many years. That is the reason why she is so fast on the marathon.
Ironman Wales was just her 4th Ironman she competed in. After a defect at the European Ironman Championships Kristin could not finish in Frankfurt. But that made it possible to do these races in the UK. Otherwise she would have concentrated on Hawaii. Now she owns 2 titles which she would not have expected a few weeks ago.
Kristin’s race in Wales was pretty similar as her competition in Bolton. The swim is still her weakest discipline. There she lost a few minutes. But already on the bike she came closer to the leading Anja Ippbach from Germany. Kristin needed almost 8 hours to take the lead which she kept until she crossed the finish line in front of Ippbach and the Belgium Stephanie Adam.
The win in Wales brought Kristin the first points for the Kona Qualification Ranking 2012. That is a pretty early start to earn points. So it should not be a problem for her to get next year’s slot. But that is still far away. Now she will relax a few days and think about the next weeks.
