A competitive athlete for many years, Giannis Psarelis says, “After many years as an athlete and coach, sports participation becomes more and more a private procedure.”
Through his competition years, Giannis completed more than 200 triathlon races and 150 running races. Now that he is no longer competing, Giannis runs several times per week. He enjoys running a 3K or 5K race as they are fast, intense races; his favourite being the Stavros Niarchos Foundation Cultural Center New Year’s 4km race.
Since retiring competitively, Giannis has parlayed his passion for the triathlon into an amazing career thanks to an undying thirst for learning. Giannis has completed over 20 certifications and speciality sport qualifications/certificates to compliment his Bachelor and Master degrees in Sports Management and Psychology.
Today, Giannis is the Sports Director for the Sports Performance Center “Sports Excellence,” which functions under the Scientific Supervision of the Medical School of Athens University.
“We are the Scientific Partner/ Sponsor for more than 10 national teams and the National Olympic Committee as well.”
Giannis, Head Coach for the Athens Triathlon Team also coaches runners who are preparing for marathon races in the one-on-one format.
