At the next issue of our digital triathlon magazine Helle Frederiksen from Denmark will appear on an exclusive interview. Helle is an elite athlete but also a sport scientist. She is training under the supervision of Michael Krueger, who was the coach of Rasmus Henning the last fifteen years. She reveals her training secrets and also her plans for 2012
Triathlon World : What are your plans for 2012?
Helle Frederiksen : “2012 will of course be the Olympic year. Should I be selected (I will know for sure in May 2012) I do not want to go to London to make up the numbers, of course it will be an honour to represent my country and be on the start line. However the Olympics is an opportunity that does not arise so often (every 4 years, qualification permitting). I do not want to just be an athlete that settles on becoming an Olympian, I want to be an athlete who can look back and say I did everything I could to get a medal. I will sit down with my team at the end of this season and establish how I think I can get the best out of my performance in London 2012. Then we will establish a training plan, formula to work on putting me in the best position possible to fight for a medal in the Olympics. The winner of that Olympic Triathlon gold medal since Sydney 2000 has gone to athletes not regarded as the favourites pre-race. Should I get to London 2012 I will not be regarded as a favourite therefore I will believe that I can content for a medal”.
Knowing that Helle is training under the supervision of Michael Krueger, if she makes it to qualify for the 2012 Olympic Games then we will not be suprised if she wins a medal.
Wait until the end of August and read in details her interview.
