The Australian Olympic triathlon men’s team was announced by the AOC and I’m more than thrilled that my name was on the 3 person list alongside Brad Kahlefeldt and Courtney Atkinson, two athletes I have attempted to imitate in achievement since I was a junior.
I knew I was to be nominated to the AOC for 3 days already but all wasn’t official until the AOC had confirmed the nominations and appointed us to the team. They were the longest 3 days of an already long 18 months. The 2 months and 3 days left until race start in Hyde Park now seem like the day after tomorrow. Happily there is time to work myself to the bone and get myself firing after a less than desirable few months of competition.
Now that the official announcement has been made the reality of soon being on the start line in Hyde Park is sinking into my mind and my excitement builds by the hour.
I want to thank everyone who has helped me reach this point so far. There are innumerable names that have contributed something towards my goal but a few that have made a huge difference are my Parents, sister Mel, my current coach Danielle Stefano and my past coach Jono Hall and all the awesome athletes who have pushed me in training over the years.
The organisations who have been behind me the whole way: Victorian Institute of Sport, Australian Institute of Sport and all of my sponsors.
